Sow your carrot seed directly into the vegetable garden as soon as soil is workable. Cover your seeds with 1/8 inch of fine soil. When plants are about 2 inches tall thin to 2 inches apart. You can space your rows 12 to 18 inches apart. Carrots are biennials producing beautiful edible white flowers the second year.
