A tender low-growing herb, cultivated for more than 5,000 years. This Basil has very attractive violet stems with beautiful lavender flowers. Sow basil seeds directly into the ground when danger of frost has passed and the soil temperature has reached 60 degrees F. They need well drained soil. Remove flowers as soon as buds appear, to keep leaves developing. Pick fresh, young basil leaves whenever you need them. The more you take, the more the plant will grow. Hardy in zones 3-10.
