This wonderful sweet organic lettuce will delight your family at dinner! This hardy lettuce forms thick green outer leaves and a lightly compact, super sweet tasting head. Let this heirloom lettuce go to seed, so you have some to plant the following year! These plants perform better than other lettuces in hot weather and provide crunchy flavorful leaves. Plant every two weeks for a continuous harvest all summer long. Make your early spring plantings in a sunny location; however, as the weather warms up, start planting in a partially shaded spot. Weed frequently, as lettuce has shallow roots and can't compete with deep rooted weeds. With normal watering, you will have a consistent, tasty, and healthy, supply of gourmet lettuce. Growing instructions: Start seed indoors up to 8 weeks before last frost in pots, or sow directly into the garden after danger of serious frost has passed. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch of fine soil. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart in rows spaced 2 to 3 feet apart depending upon available room. Transplant seedlings indoors after first pair of true leaves have developed. Transplant indoor started seedlings after hardening off and danger of serious frost has passed. 7 to 10 day germination time. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
