This is a Bavarian variety, that was given to Kent and Diane (Ott) Whealy in 1972 by her grandfather, Baptist John Ott, who lived on a 40-acre farm near St. Lucas, Iowa. Beautiful, deep purple flowers can be enjoyed all season long! Can grow 15 feet or more if given enough trellis support. Enjoy flowers from mid-summer to fall. Ideal for arbors, trellises, fences or trailing down banks or from containers.
Sow seeds outdoors after all danger of frost has passed or for earlier blooms start indoors in individual peat pots 2 to 3 weeks before last frost. Soak seed in water for 24 hours prior to planting. Cover seed with 1/4" of fine soil. Hardy in zones 5-9.
