This is a wonderfully sweet and flavorful beet, with a squat turnip-like shape. They are a great storage variety as well. Beets prefer cool temperatures and tolerate an occasional light frost. Start indoors 5-6 weeks before the last heavy frost or direct sow when the soil has warmed. Can be grown as a double crop for Spring and Fall. Sow about 1/4 to 1/2" deep in rows 1 foot apart. Best germination is at temperatures between 55-75 degrees F. Best performance is in loose, loamy soil that is not too acidic. Enjoy!
