Milkweed is a perennial herb, that produces clusters of tiny pinkish white flowers. On pollination, pods form that issue forth light cottony seeds that scatter. This plant is a major food source for the Monarch butterfly which will be attracted to the flowers when they form. A wonderful addition to a prairie restoration project, flower garden or rain garden!

In late fall, direct sow just below the surface in full sun and well drained soil. This plant also tolerates dry, rocky soil or clay. Plant three seeds together every 18-24 inches. Germination will take place in the spring, after the last frost.
